Together, ThoughtWire and PointClickCare will work to help overcome patient data challenges experienced in Ontario’s Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities. Ontario’s LTC system is facing increased pressure to streamline and simplify how clinicians access patient data. Residents at LTC facilities often require complex medical care, yet LTC facilities typically lack easy access to advanced medical technology, such as on-site laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging. As a result, LTC residents are referred to external health organizations and their reports are returned to the LTC using a mix of paper-based and electronic methods. This creates a challenging scenario for clinicians accessing patient data, requiring them to manually match records between systems and search large databases to find test results. Not only is the current approach inefficient, but it also increases the risk of privacy breaches and user errors. To solve this challenge, ThoughtWire and PointClickCare developed eConnect, a unified solution for clinicians to access a patient’s medical data built on  Azure. The eConnect solution, designed for the long-term care market, provides critical data sources, while applying Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Augmented Intelligence (AI) to create a single source of truth for patient data.
